    Any dangers to trip switching?

I think trip switching is a good idea, but only if you find the right person to do it with. The odds of that happening seem rare, though. Anyone could totally be putting on a show or using me. Does anyone have any stories where their trip switch went horribly wrong?

I haven't had any trip switches that have gone wrong. I've done 3 thus far. So far everyone has been really nice and there wasn't any problems.  I can imagine that it wont always be the case. Seems like it's possible to get yourself into trouble when you meet a friend who's got false intentions. I'm curious to see if anyone has had this problem as well.

Don't you think this website would be in trouble if someone trip switched from here and got raped or something? That's crazy.

Actually, I think you're right to be concerned but look at what else is out there. Have you heard of the concept of house swapping? Where you and a foreign person actually exchange houses for a week or 2. There's plenty of websites that manage that and there aren't alot of issues with vandalism or with theft. It depends on the community, I guess. I've seen plenty of websites dedicated to finding travel partners to either meet and fly somewhere or meet up at a vacation destination. I've seen backpacker sites where you find billets or people that will let you crash in their basement and stuff for a day or two while passing through the land. There's alot of trustworthy people out there and, while I'm sure there is a bad seed here and there, for the most part people are generally kind and sincere. If they weren't I doubt there would be so many websites that cater to strangers meeting like this one.

Still seems risky. It's ok though, I'm gonna try it with someone in Japan, if I can.
